Designation 2009 Red Wine - SOLD OUT
Imagine what you love about Anomaly Vineyards Cabernet - now imagine those flavors more pure, those tannins more fine, the concentration more subtle, and the texture even more graceful. It is with great pride that we introduce the inaugural vintage of Anomaly Vineyards Designation.
Winemaker's Notes
There is no recipe; no specific blend. Designation is just what it suggests: those barrels designated as a cut above the rest. The Anomaly Vineyard has three different pruning systems, three different varietals, seven different clones, and three different rootstocks. The combinations create 9 unique blocks. The blocks are fermented separately and kept separate for their entire maturation. These lots are naturally unique. And yet there is even greater distinction: within each lot the wine matures in barrels from a variety of different coopers, and within those coopers, wood from different forests, and of course different toast levels. The possible combinations may not be mathematically infinite, but they are many and varied. Designation is a selection of a very small number of barrels (in the 2009 vintage just three total) where the factors of vintage, vineyard block, and exact barrel come together to create something magical. The 2009 Designation is extremely rare and exceptionally delicious.
